No sujatha, brahminism and brahmin-bashing is unfortunately not a thing of the past. What im upset about is the fact that some people in the society have taken up the idea of worshipping to such heights that they forget that other people need help in the society.

Forgive me,but I have no problems with the brahmin or people from any other society. But the issue here is that there are things to do besides worshipping, things that can help other people? I really don't know if the Mutt does a lot of charity work but what im saying is that the salvation these people (those in the mutt and the followers)seek can be got otherwise too.For instance why cant they direct their help towards the downtrodden and those who struggle on a meal a day?

Why cant we do this work ourselves? Why does it have to take a Albanian christian by the name of Agnes Gonxha Bejaxhia to do charity work in Kolkata?

I don't have answers with me but what I can say is that the Hindu Faith itself is like that( no offence)U can recall the ideas of Karma for that matter.

If u have better answers then keep me posted.

For u to read, Mithra
The system, the system, the system.Im not surprised that the system failed.Which system doesnt?
As far as I know all ‘god-men’ are chosen when they were little thumb-sucking kids.A few days back I saw a doc.on NGC about tibetan monks choosing a little kid to be the next head priest in some monastery.
Religion has no explaination.Just a set of sometimes popular sometimes not-so-popular beliefs.
The system here cannot be considered to be a proper system.Ok...if some guy thinks that a little kid is gonna show them the path to enlightenment one day and the next day he decides that a middle aged woman survived the near death experience is the next ‘superwoman’ and he convinces all people around him to follow what he says then where on earth is the system?U cant surely call this ad-hoc ‘recruitment’,a system.

I agree with the fact that humans havent changed at all tho’ our beliefs might have changed. Our social structure demands a leader to be there and we find one, wherever possible.

And for the record can you find a non-brahmin opinion?Like I said we ve not moved out of our medieval mood.

The God-Man?

Shankarachrya was released yesterday. My neighbours were so overjoyed that they translated his release into a mini Diwali.Sweets were served and crackers were bursted.
"Truth has finally triumphed"one of them said.My dad believes in him strongly. But I continue to remain a skeptic in this whole issue.
Downstairs,I was talking to my watchman about it and he said that his community hardly believes in such people."God men dont exist...atleast not for us",He said.
I know that there arent any solid evidences against him but thats not what Im talking about. You will find out in a bit.

The entire fiasco (not sure if that is a good term) has shaken the grounds of religion.Shankarachrya was a god man ...only for the brahmins. His devotees are mostly brahmins.Im not so sure if he was so great a person.

The papers flash many ads about him starting colleges and hospitals. But what has he done for the people who form the bottom-most strata in the society. His hospitals and colleges are commercial places. Why doesnt his hospitals provide free help for the poor? Why cant he increase the level of education by introducing some sort of scheme to uplift the downntrodden?

A friend of my dad's said that the Tsunami was the result of Shankarachrya's arrest.WHAT NONSENSE IS THIS?He was saying that we shoudnt make the gods angry and more natural disasters would follow if he werent released.

How can people say this?
Shankarachrya might be good or not-so-good after all.But one thing is sure.We people arent able to come outside the medieval society system that ruled for quite a long time.We sometimes are desperately out of touch with the modern times.

absolutely no idea about wat im writing

My reflections today.

Woke up this afternoon at 3.00pm.dint feel like sleeping last night.there was this interesting mini-series called ‘the grid’ on star movies. It basically deals with stuff about terrorism.Osama’s men on the loose.Funny.This particular drama was about bio-terrorism,something that is cheaper than building multi-million dollar nuclear plants, something that can be done for about a few hundred thousand dollars.something that is twice as dangerous, given the ease with these weapons can be manufactured. The whole scenario about the US is changing. The country was once the darling of the world(only academically though, never politically). It’s foreign policy has taken a turn for the worst;the country has revoked many environmental acts, turning the clock back to about thirty years;and who could forget the all famous Gun Control Act which was repealed a few weeks ago.My sis always says”The US does not know the rest of the world”.What the americans are doing now might not hurt them immediately but in the long run, they are bound to lose investments. And what about the third world? What happens to them? They lose out anyway. Its kind of a lose-lose situation for them, for us ,I mean. This world is a funny place we live in.The whole concept of democracy sometimes fails to deliver the the meaning of freedom.Sometime back I was reading the Communist Manifesto, and one interesting concept that was put forward was the fact about employment in a democracy. What it said was that in a democracy a person A gets employed by beating other less ‘gifted’ contenders for that post;but in doing so he somehow steals other contenders’ living. It just sounded like a daylight robbery to me.i mean whats the difference between this and stealing? What we call ‘open competition’ is just a form of stealing.

Having said all this,I wonder at times,if we have developed at all.I know all scientists and scholars will fail to agree with me;but the point I put forward is not merely about tecnological developments. Its about social developments.Have we become a better social creaure in tha past few centuries?Have we improved as a society from those cave dwellers that we were?I think not.

Some scientists believe that life is a circle;we come back to the spot that we were at in the first place.I on the other hand have a different perspective.I tend to think that we are not developing at all,we are all at one and only stage, stranded on this planet.Any sort of development that we come across only provides a sense of false security.Something that forces us to continue living. Its like balancing and running on a giant ball that keeps rotating. You are just at the same spot, always.Any moment of no concentration will result in falling off that ball. One question that baffles me is where is that ball headed?I still havent found the answer to that question.

Those meddling Americans

6 June 2004-Those meddling Americans
The same date 40 years ago played a pivotal role in the making of our history.Modern Europe would have had a different outlook had it not been for the intervening Americans. If Hitler had his way, things could have taken a turn for the worse. But today the scenario is entirely different.Iraq is no Europe and certainly Saddam is no Hitler.Yet those meddling Americans fail to believe so.In Washington DC,a large monument was constructed to revere the heroes of the Second World War and those of D-day especially.Took them a long time didn't it?Sixty years to felicitate the soldiers who died in large numbers?Ha!
Even now Mr.Bush disagrees that the entire Iraq episode turned out to be a fiasco. He is persistent, though but arent they all?American today has made a mockery of our history.Their capitalist economy has crippled many countries. In a recent report produced by the BBC I was not surprised to note that hybrid coffee beans that are being newly produced in the USA and GBR has been devastating the economies of the African countries who export coffee. And needless to say,the Americans are poking their noses into the governments of the same countries. How ironic!
And what about Israel-Palestine conflict? They made a so called 'Road-Map for Peace'.An extremely biased one, that.Israel feels that it is morally correct to bomb Palestine homes and incarcerate countless numbers of Palestine'militants' .What do the Americans do about it?Poke their stinking butts into the whole affair and do nothing about it.Almost nothing except for a certain Mr.Powell who would walk out of his furnished office in the WhiteHouse and make a desultory speech about the Road-Map and associated things.Israel is apparently razing Palestine settlements because they want to destroy 'tunnels used for smuugling arms from Egypt'.They found one but never really disclosed the details.Very similar to those non-existent WMDs.
America is has always been a nation that has wanted to be the fastest. But the answer to the questions of where it is going and what route it has been taking all these days have been baffling us...and those Americans too!If American Foreign Policies dont change then events like 9/11 and the Oklahoma Bombings will only become too common in the future.
